mawa stands for lighting solutions beyond the standard. As one of the few German manufacturers, we still create true custom-made designs. For example, the world’s largest 360° display. A one-of-a-kind piece, developed, designed, produced, and assembled by mawa’s high-tech team.

Modern heritage

mawa’s 2025 gangkofner edition unites traditional glassmaking with modern lighting technology. Each luminaire is a statement of iconic mid-century design, crafted with handmade Czech glass. Sustainable by design

Just outside Berlin, we manufacture luminaires and lighting systems that impress not only through technology but also through sustainability. Our designs are made to last – and for good reason: we rely on resource-efficient production processes and are constantly working to reduce our environmental footprint. For us, innovation also means becoming more sustainable with every step.

If you know lighting, you know mawa

Jasmin Daémi

“I value mawa’s products for their timeless aesthetics, outstanding light quality, and high-quality craftsmanship. In addition, Zeit für Brot and mawa share a common understanding of sustainability — something that, unfortunately, is still not a given today, but is a key criterion for us when choosing our partners.”

Christopher Burns

“From our previous collaboration with mawa in high-end retail, we knew how crucial the quality of light is in showcasing materials and colors. Additionally, the Haus für Musik was designed for use throughout the day. Successful lighting – especially in the evening – is therefore essential.”

Tobias Ruge

„The well-considered design of wittenberg 4.0 is based on fundamental geometries. The series impresses with a timeless design language and a high level of technical sophistication.“

Christopher Burns

“The wittenberg series is well thought out and straightforward. The proportions are pleasantly compact. It accommodates various installation scenarios, and the light quality in the end is simply excellent.”

Sascha Homburg

“The formally restrained design language and the versatile mounting options, as well as the extensive range of technical lighting accessories such as interchangeable lenses, softening filters and anti-glare attachments, were decisive selection criteria.”

Jan Blieske

“mawa has already realised several extremely demanding projects with us and for us, involving joint technological development. Therefore, we knew that mawa had the production technology required for this – not just as a pure lighting manufacturer. The company is capable of more than just producing a luminaire; with its milling technology, it can also manufacture an entire reflector ceiling.”

Christian Brecht

“The luminaires by mawa, with their timeless design and high-quality light output, integrate seamlessly into our interior concept and help create a space for both relaxation and focus.”
